Though I am no longer a licensed financial advisor, I'm an experienced licensed insurance agent, specializing in fixed products, and I have a full team of independent financial associates across the nation with various core competencies. Term-life insurance, which is most affordable of all life insurances. As a matter of fact, you've likely seen either daily commercials or heard a few radio ads in your car from time to time. Or maybe you've received some of the many weekly mailers, advertising low cost life insurance... Yeah, I hate getting those too! I also hate going to the dentist, but it is a necessity I do not neglect, because I'm better off with it than without!
Permanent life insurance policies do exactly what term-life policies do, but they are forever, until the policy holder dies and they also have a cash accumulation component to it. For example, Indexed universal Life policies, which is a fixed product, allows for that tax-free cash accumulation, plus the death benefit. They also have what we call riders which are like additions to the policies or upgrades, if you will, such as terminal illness or even long-term care assistance.
And for the wealthy, there's what we call, premium finance life insurance. This policy can technically be a term or a permanent one but it is more about how it is actually paid for. These policies are actually funded by the client, leveraging their assets and getting a bank loan. This usually makes financial sense for the high net worth client, especially as interest rates are still relatively low. This is a whole world unto itself, as this is a highly sophisticated tool usually tied directly to ones estate planning.
All in all, life insurance has so much to offer, from its necessity of providing a tax free safe haven for ones family in the case of an untimely death as well as to potentially be a great addition to ones financial plan as a viable savings tool.
